How to Write Your Own Wedding Vows (Without the Stress)

Writing your vows can feel daunting — but it doesn’t have to be. Your vows are simply your chance to speak from the heart. Here’s how to make it easier:

  1. Start with a structure — past (how you met), present (what you love about them), future (what you promise).

  2. Keep it simple and sincere — there’s no need to be overly poetic or dramatic unless that’s your style.

  3. Use your own voice — speak like you normally would. It’s more meaningful that way.

  4. Add a personal touch — inside jokes, shared memories, or daily moments that make your relationship yours.

  5. Keep it short-ish — aim for 1–2 minutes. Just enough to move hearts without losing focus.

And don’t worry — as your celebrant, I can help you polish or guide your vows if you get stuck. I offer this support to all couples from Dorrigo to the Gold Coast and everywhere in between.
